Engineering student Ken Kitamura, 19, drowned in the Yodogawa River in Osaka, Japan, in August. He and several colleagues had constructed a prototype canoe made of concrete, and Kitamura was the first to try it out. [Mainichi Daily News, 8-17-09]
Now this is just disappointing. Aren't Asains smarter than this? I mean is there no organized crime in Japan or what...what are the Yakuza up to? Mafia 101 tells you that when you want a man to sleep with the fishes you tie cement to his legs. Have we been overestimating their nimbleness and mental prowess for all these years? Pfff...what a joke.
Secondly, I know Hondas are really realiable so maybe the Japanese have never heard of crash test dummies...but they should really consider drown test dummies for their cement lovin experiments.
Lastly, unless the academic community is Japan is so competive that another student tied Ken (real name kenishawitamo) to the Canoe...why the hell would the first person to try the cement boat out be a non-swimmer?
